Authentic Costa Rica

As one who had traveled many times to Costa Rica in recent years, I tried to locate out-of-the-way places and felt that the Tenorio-Miravalles area would be interesting. The website of Casitas Tenorio B & B showed a beautiful family. The kindness reflected in their faces in that photo was also shown during our visit to Casitas Tenorio. (They even provided a surprise birthday cake for my husband with only about 20-30 minutes notice and their daughters and guests sang to him at the breakfast table!) Pip and Donald, the owners, were friendly and accommodating in every way. They put us in contact with Marlon Calderon Brenes, an expert rain forest guide, and their B & B featured delicious breakfasts, clean and very quiet private casitas, and friendly staff members. Casitas Tenorio is located in the heart of the rainforest, and we were even able to d, o some high-quality bird watching from the breakfast table. A sloth decided to climb up one of the trees in the small parking lot at the lodge, allowing a world-class photo op! Part of the road leading from Bijagua to the lodge is very rocky and rough, but it is short, and once you stay at Casitas you know that it was worth the trip!!
