Casitas Tenorio – A Home, A Farm, A Rural Tourism Project
Every special place has a story, and Casitas Tenorio B&B is no exception. Ours is a story of community, sustainability, rural tourism, and a deep friendship between two determined women. As our guest, you become part of this journey. Here’s a glimpse into how it all began.
Our Story
Casitas Tenorio B&B is run by two friends, Pip Kelly and Nana Chacón. Pip, originally from country Victoria, Australia, first came to Bijagua in 2001 as a community development volunteer. She fell in love with the region and returned to live in 2007. In 2008, Casitas Tenorio B&B officially opened its doors.
Nana, originally from San José, met Pip at a trade fair, and their shared passion for sustainable tourism and community development led to the further development of Casitas Tenorio B&B. Nana lives onsite with her husband Jeff and her daughter Camila. You might also spot Sunny their cat and Nala their dog!
Today, the property is thoughtfully divided into two sections—one dedicated to tourism and habitat conservation, and the other to sustainable farming. This balance allows us to connect visitors with nature, local culture, and farm life, while preserving the land we love. Both Pip and Nana hold university degrees and have applied their passion and knowledge to this female owned and operated rural community touirsm project.

Our logo is circular, symbolizing life, growth, and continuous evolution. The new leaf buds at each end represent renewal and change—core values that define our journey at Casitas Tenorio B&B.
